Well, I just finished rereading (or at least reskimming) Something Rotten. If anyone who might be reading this blog hasn't read Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next books, check them out. They are weird, fun, intellectual and non-serious all at the same time.
Why is it that library books arrive in groups, even though they are ordered months apart? Is that a variant on Murphy's Law? I have 3 of them sitting on my nightstand and think I'll be hitting the new Elizabeth George book ("The Edge of Nowhere") first.
Job hunting goes on apace. Today at the IT Networkers meeting people were suggesting I add some whiny wisdom about how to cope with job search and the trials and tribulations that accompany it. Instead I'll hope that an offer comes out of one of the interviews I have coming in the near future. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a secret word that you could say that would convince people to do what you want (like offer you a job)? I remember an episode of NewsRadio where this happened and smile at the possibilities.
I started uploading some favorite photos from CONvergence yesterday and should be able to complete the first set of uploads by tomorrow. The question then becomes how many too much (all 1000-2000 per year that are not garbage or try and edit those down to remove close redundancy).
The movie I saw last night was "Cabin in the Woods". This is a hard movie to discuss. It is a classic horror movie, but isn't. Light-hearted but scary. I think the problem I had with it was that I didn't really care about/for any of the characters. But, I don't know if I was supposed to, either.
I find it harder to care about the World Series now that the Yankees aren't in it. If I had to choose, I would probably root for Detroit since they are the American League team, but since I don't have to choose I won't.
Wow, 2 days in a row. I'm on a roll now :)
